1. AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) Elementary
AVID is a college-readiness system that begins in kindergarten. Student success skills are incorporated into the daily curriculum and critical-thinking strategies are imbedded into the core content areas. Students also use organization systems such as planners and note taking to prepare them for success beyond elementary school. AVID does not just take place in the classroom but is incorporated into the school culture and leadership systems.
2. Experiential Learning and Community Involvement
Students will participate in study trips either in the community or bringing the community into the school to provide a deeper and real-world learning experience.
3. Blended Learning
Blended learning will be used to individualize instruction for part of the day to make up student academic gaps or allow students to dive deeper into curriculum topics.
4. Student Leadership Opportunities
Students will learn what makes a great leader and how to become a leader in their own community. Students will have leadership opportunities in their classroom, school, and community in the form of service learning.
